Energy efficiency
In 2009, our Quebec distribution centre and corporate headquarters moved to a new building in Saint-Hubert in which Liberté was able to implement energy efficiency measures to better control costs and reduce its energy consumption.
- To heat the offices, the corporation developed a system to recover the heat released by the products coming out the plant.
- Liberté also relies on outdoor temperatures to refrigerate products during the colder months, from November to April.
- Energy-efficient lighting was installed.
The project helped reduce the company’s annual energy bill by $40,000 – a 20% reduction in cost. In addition, the Brossard plant acquired a water tower to limit the consumption of process cooling water and avoid the installation of an additional refrigeration compressor.
